Fuel and Brake Lines

So I’m thinking of using stainless steel braided line for the fuel and brake lines instead of the provided hose. I don’t think I want to tackle the challenge of aluminum lines. What are the pros and cons between the two in everyone’s opinion?

Re: Sling 2 with 912 IS propellor options

On the Sling facebook page I posted a similar question a while back. Someone ( I think Adam at Midwest Panel Builders) said there was very little gain from the constant speed prop on the 912 engine in s Sling 2. What I did get good feedback on was adding the 914 turbo engine and constant speed prop....

Torque Wrench

So I’m looking for a torque wrench and as with many tools it seems you can pay whatever you want for these. My question is, how low does it need to go in Inch Pounds? I see them start at 10 inch pounds and some that start at 20, 30 or even 50. Any recommendations on range, brand or such? Torque valu...

Re: Sling TSI Builder, Tallahassee, FL

I’m still waiting on an updated estimate, but the first guess was October. We’ll see how it goes. I’ve still got some work to do building another work table and getting the garage finished, but I’ll sure be ready long before October.

Re: Sling TSI Builder, Tallahassee, FL

I would love to come down and see how it’s going. I’ll reach out later this month and see if there is some time when you wouldn’t mind me stopping by.

Re: Alodine/Bonderite Treatment

A side question to doing alodine. Can you alodine the inside of the fuel tanks? I was worried about the tank sealant bonding well with it. I read alodine is great prep for paint/primer but I’m not sure if that translates to tank sealant.

Alodine/Bonderite Treatment

I am trying to decide whether to treat my kit with alodine (Bonderite as it’s called now) instead of doing a two part epoxy like Akzo. I live in coastal Florida and feel like it’s worth doing one or the other to protect the plane. I like the fact alodine doesn’t add weight whereas from my research i...

Sling TSI Builder, Tallahassee, FL

So I pulled the trigger today on a Sling TSI kit. I will be counting the days and I’m sure tracking ships and such as time drags on waiting for delivery. I’ve loved aviation my entire life but couldn’t swing lessons until I was in my 40’s. Finally have the kids out of the house and decided it was ti...
