Re: Sling in Burlington, ON

I can't speak to other distributors, but for TAF USA in Torrance it's 50% at order and the remainder + shipping when they are ready to ship.

Re: Alodine/Bonderite Treatment

They did show alodining in the recent EAA webinar. If I remember correctly Mike mentioned that they weren't (or stopped) and they saw some corrosion that they don't see with alodined parts. For me, I've decided to go with a permanganate conversion coating produced by Sanchem. It's not as effective, ...

Re: Known building "Gotchas" for the Sling TSi

I'm not sure if this counts as as a "gotcha" or just a reminder to pay attention, but two of the nose ribs for the horizontal stabilizer that I got with my empennage kit had holes that were punched too large. It was pretty clear they were off in comparison with other pieces, but I'm not su...

Re: Performance numbers question

I had a similar line of reasoning as your post since I am also in an area with high field elevations (8,000' DA can be seen during taxi much less cruise). I compared power loading at gross weight vs altitude rather than just straight hp because of the weight difference you point out. At takeoff powe...

Re: Weight & Balance AFT CG Concerns

CAUTION Beware that although these numbers from N135WT came from Barry @ TAF USA, the Arm used for the Fuel is INCORRECT as it shows ALL Fuel including the Long Range (L/R) Tanks Fuel under only 1 Arm. However, as per POH Rev 2.2 it should be as follows: FUEL Main (46 Gallons Maximum): Arm (mm) 1,8...

Re: Weight & Balance AFT CG Concerns

Not mine, but Barry from TAF USA sent me the weight and balance sheet for N135WT (extended range tanks + parachute I believe). Here are the numbers, but it'd probably be easier to use them if you ask him for the spreadsheet directly. Item Weight (Kg) Weight (lbs) Arm (mm) Arm (inches) Moment in/lbs ...

Re: Price Increase

ncs, you just saved me $1,000 on the wing kit! Someone with my profile name can only give you eternal gratitude in return, I trust this suffices. :) My intentions were diminished for a moment, not because of the price increase, but the lack of communication (apparently my email was not included in ...

Re: Foreflight performance data for Tsi

For EAB, I thought you as the builder were the manufacturer and would be developing the performance charts during phase I (granted I'm a LONG way from that and haven't looked at it very closely) and what the kit manufacturer posts is just an approximate guideline of what you can expect. It would see...

Price Increase

In case anyone has missed it, it looks like TAF USA TSI prices are going up next week: We hope you are staying safe! Some of you have started the airplane build project you've always dreamed of during this time. Well done to you! The Sling TSi continues to be a best-seller for TAF Sling. We have see...
