Re: Share your Progress Fridays [2019/12/13]

I filmed it Saturday morning, and today is Saturday evening, but I guess it's close enough to Friday!

Re: Show your workshop

Nice shops guys! I like the idea of having several smaller tables that you can place where they need to be. My one long table is usually great, but sometimes not quite long enough or sometimes too long, I should have cut it in half to be 2 smaller ones. Anyway, I dug up an old video of my shop I too...

Re: Metal skin thickness?

Cannot comment on comparison between RV-10 vs TSi as far as feel goes... But the feel of the skin on it's own is almost irrelevant. They use different types of aluminum- The RV is made of 2024, and the TSi is 6061. They both have their advantages and disadvantages, and one of the advantages of 2024 ...

Re: CO Detector

I've never seen this before, awesome! I was just going to put a somewhat hidden sticker co detector because I don't want to waste panel space with the other integrated sensor options. I know its not really an answer to your question, but I'll be getting one of these that you posted!

Re: Auto pilot - Yaw Damper

I don't think you need it for yaw damping. I asked about it at TAF Torrance and they looked at me kind of confused and said the TSi doesn't need it. That being said, I'm looking forward for when they can integrate a servo connected to the rudder with the electronics for automatic turn coordination d...

Re: Paint or Vinyl Wrap

I actually love the idea. You could theoretically skip filling all the rivets, and just wrap over the top of them. I asked the guys at TAF in Torrance about the idea, and they didn't seem too stoked. They said you would have to replace the wrap every year or two to keep it looking good. They recomme...

Re: Bush Tires

TAF is releasing a high wing version of the TSi soon, and I think the bush tires would be a better option for this version. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they design the plane with that option in mind!

Re: Kit completness?

The TSi kit is very complete, and very well organized. It comes with everything you need to build the plane, and the plane is totally designed around the Rotax 915is. Because of this, you will need to factor in the cost of the 915 into the build, and consider it "part of the kit" The wirin...

Re: Spats and tyre pressures

I have the same hole on my spats - trust me, it’s really fiddly - there is very little space. I spoke to the guys at TAF and they say they have no issues doing this with the valve at the bottom of the wheel. I’m still struggling but will have another look on the weekend. Interesting. I'm glad to kn...
