Re: Spats and tyre pressures

The new design has you drill a 29mm diameter hole in the spats that gets covered with a rubber plug while in flight. Does your plane have this feature and it is still not easy to use? If not, check out the new build manual for the undercarriage on the TAF dropbox and see the drilling detail. https:/...

Re: Wing Tip Nav/Strobes?

They actually told me NOT to purchase the electricals package, so I didn't. They were adamant that it is far less expensive to source the wiring and lighting yourself. The problem is, it introduces a learning curve to figure out which type and gauge wire to use for each component. The actual componen...

Re: Tools to build

Since I mostly use all the same tools as you have on your list, the only extra recommendations I can add are these- Hands down the best thing I have bought for my build is a Stanley Proset XT2 rivet gun. For those who have an air compressor, there is no comparison to this gun! It has a valve that su...

Re: Wing Tip Nav/Strobes?

Great info, thanks! At almost half the output power, I would assume they're about half as bright. Guess I'll have to opt for the Ultras!

Re: Suggestions & Improvements

I'm not sure if this is easy to do or not, I'm not a web guy at all. Is it possible to have the links on this site that users post automatically open a new tab instead of using the same tab? I try to right click and open new tab but if I forget I always end up closing the tab and have to go back to ...

Re: Wing Tip Nav/Strobes?

I had the same problem a month or two ago when I bought the mini max tail strobe. I got it and it was an Ariel as well. Same email to spruce, and same reply. Even the same decision to let it go! Philip- I was looking at these as well. I can't really see the difference between the Ultra Daylite and t...

Re: TSi Builder...soon

One thing TAF needs to work on, is the completeness of each kit. Right now, it seems like there are a lot of components for each kit that are found in another kit. I think you can mostly get by with the wings and empennage, but you won't want to build the fuselage without also having the finishing k...

Wing Tip Nav/Strobes?

What are you guys using for your wing tip strobes? There seem to be a large range of options (of course only looking at LED!) and some seem to not be approved for night flight? Looking to get a quality set of lights that won't break the bank!

Sling TSi Builder in San Diego
