Avionics Package

Post by sjheuser »

Does anyone ant to share a list of the avionics they've purchased for a set up similar to the TAF Sling Tsi in torrance...in other words IFR panel with two G3x's?

I'm comparing costs for different set ups and manufacturers, but afraid I'm leaving out important components that aren't so obvious.

- 2 G3X display units
- G5 backup
- Garmin GTR 200B
- GNX375
- Auto pilot with GMC305 control panel
- Flight Systems Stock box 9xis
- Garmin GI260 on dash heads up AoA

The reason for the Stock box is additional engine information to interpret the 915 engine errors. I'm not a fan of Rotax' flashing error lights without an explanation when I'm flying in the clouds.

Will the "Flight Systems Stock box 9xis" decode the Rotax error codes like a BUDS level 2 or 3 Dongle + software would?

Thanks!

Yes it will! So you can know in flight what your flashing light means. The warnings show up on the main screen, but there are sub screens as well.

Wow, yes, this is very valuable!
I was thinking on carrying a small Windows Laptop with the Dongle connected and BUDS for this.
The Stock Box is much better.
Great suggestion.

Anyone who has flown with the 912is or 915is has gotten the flashing warning lights, and wondered/worried what was wrong. Rotax should have had those error codes readable on all Garmin and Dynon avionics by now. But they don't, so that's why I went with the Stock Box.

The pricing last year was about $4,600.
