Share your Progress Fridays [2019/12/13]

Post by PhilipRueker »

Hey all,

I figured it would be nice to have a regular weekly check-in of peoples progress and do a regular "Share your Progress" every Friday going forward of what you've achieved recently.

Whether that is:
  • Build progress if you're currently building a Sling
  • Flight testing progress if you've recently finished your build and are now doing the flight testing as part of the build certification
  • Flying progress, such as having flown a total of 50/100/1000/etc. hours
  • Decision progress in whether you want to build an Airplane
  • Flight Training progress, such as first solo, achieving your Private Pilot License or Instrument Rating, etc.
or some other related progress that you feel worth sharing, is up to you.

I'll start myself with some building progress.

I finished planning out the installation of the Pitot tube for my Sling TSi build and cut out the hole for the inspection panel in the Wing to allow me to install the heated/regulated Pitot Tube.
I will mount the regulator unit on the back of the inspection plate which will fit quite perfectly from my measuring test fit.

It was quite nerve wrecking to cut the hole since there's little room for error unless I want a bigger hole, so I did a lot of measuring and aligning before I made the final cut. Luckily it came out well and now I can continue and finish the installation.
I also captured a video of the process.

Build activity:
1) Developed a game plan for priming parts at the nearby airplane paint shop
2) Researched deburring further
3) More tools arriving daily, ordered a few more as understanding needs continues
4) Test fit horizontal stabilizer parts – very easy, excellent alignment, good directions manual

I filmed it Saturday morning, and today is Saturday evening, but I guess it's close enough to Friday!

Absolutely, any day is close enough really. I just picked Friday as a arbitrary day to make it a regular weekly checkin :)

Awesome to see your progress :)
