How hard is it to find 91 Octane Mogas on an airfield across the US? Since the Rotax engine runs cleaner and has 1/2 the maintenance on 91 Mogas, why would you run 100LL in these engine?

If an airport lists Mogas, is it normally 91 or 87 octane?

An aviation app for Rotax engine owners keeping up to date records with usable mogas locations would be great. Include FBO info, fuel type and prices, local food and lodging. Users could update the info with an account to keep it current.

There are a few websites that (try to) keep updated lists of airports with mogas or UL94 and list what type it is.

In my case, I have a co-op that sells ethanol free fuel near the airport, so I will likely just drive there with some 5 gal canisters and bring that to the airport (which is what we currently do in our flying club where we have the STC for our C150 and C172 to use mogas.

My plan is to purchase a 40-80 gallon fuel tank with an electric pump. I'll throw it in the back of my truck and get gas from wherever has the right quality/price and can store it in my hangar. As for destination airports, Philip has the perfect answer, and the beauty of being able to use 100LL is if you can't get mogas, just top off with 100LL when it's your only choice

One more thing to add about using 100LL when Mogas isn’t available is to consider using a Fuel additive like Decalin to reduce the impact of the Lead since the Rotax engine really prefers running on Mogas.
