TSi type approval in Sweden/Europe

Want to talk about what it takes to build a plane based on your countries regulations?
What are the procedures to certify an Experimental airplane?
What pieces of equipment do you need for Instrument flying?

TSi type approval in Sweden/Europe

Post by lutorm »

The process for amateur building in Sweden is quite a bit more involved and regulated than in the US. Before you can start your build, you need a building permit. To be eligible for amateur building, each airplane type must go through an examination showing that the design conforms to certain portions of the EASA certification specification CS-23 rules, mostly centering on fuel system design and occupant safety. Since my TSi will be the first Sling to be built in Sweden, I have to go through this process.

Similar rules exist in many European countries, and if a country already has approved the TSi it would simplify the process. Does anyone know in which European countries there are flying TSis and if any of them have already gone through such an examination?

If there are questions, is #slingsupport available to help here? For example, there's a question about whether the structure will protect the occupants if the plane flips over and is subject to certain loads that would be very difficult to answer for anyone who's not the designer.

There is a guy who just finished up a build in the UK.
I know recently the UK pulled out of the EU, however, you may wish to chat with him, see if he had to go through similarily?

Hopefully that helps some?

Aircraft Builders, the European distributor, is going to help out so hopefully they can get whatever info is needed from the factory.
