Can I operate a Sling HW at my strip?

Hi All,

I have an Ikarus C42 and am looking for something with a little more speed/performance but something I can operate from my 375m grass strip + 12m at each end for stock/tractors to pass. There is a 2m high hedge at each end of the field which has a total width of 400m. Hence I'm looking at the Sling High Wing.

I've looked through the POH and see the following:
Take off roll is 220m at all up mass (350m to clear a 15m fence)
Landing roll is 150m (350m from 15m fence)

I'm not looking to operate anywhere near all up mass, I'm 76kg and the wife is 46kg.

I'd like to work out if my strip is go/no-go with just us and say half fuel but there aren't any performance tables to refer to. Before I try comparing to tables in a similar aircraft type can anyone share their experiences of landing a high or low wing Sling TSi at grass strips and their view of an adequate grass strip length?

I'm not sure if the factory has done enough testing yet to know the full take off and landing distances for the new Sling HW since they have only built the first prototype so far.

But maybe #slingsupport does have some info on that already.

Hi,

We are still developing the take-off and landing performance tables for varying weights and altitudes, but we do have preference information at MAUW of 1,050kg. The tests were conducted at MSL on a smooth and level tar runway:

Takeoff:
Roll: 270m (shorter possible with STOL procedures, around 230m)
Distance at 50ft (15m): 600m

Landing:
Distance from stopping point at 50ft: 550m
Landing Roll: 180m

We will update this thread when we have performance data for lighter weights. What is the elevation of your field (AMSL)?

Hi,

Thanks, appreciate your support.

My strip is 330FT AMSL.

Neil.
