My plane was weighed, and it came in at 1,100 lbs. This is with a chute. So almost 1,000 lbs useful load.

That's awesome to hear.

Can you share the Weight and Balance?
I'm very interested to see how the GC Envelope shakes out on completed builds.

Yes, please share your info if you don't mind.

If you read the fine print the TSI listed gross weight matches with the emergency parachute listed max recovery weight. So I'm estimating that any aircraft weight over that gross weight as long as it's inside the CG envelope would only result in a increased sink rate if you deployed the parachute.

What I haven't found yet is what the sink rate would be if you deployed the parachute at the gross weight and if the seats are designed to protect your body at that sink rate? Seat impact design is a big deal with Cirrus aircraft. It's a question that appears with parachute equipped aircraft.

Hi Cecil,

The information is provided on their website (see below) as well as the Technical Data on page 18 of their Installation and User's Manual. The numbers are as follows:
- Max permitted load: 950 kg / 2094 lb.
- Descent rate (at max load): 7.2 m/s = 1,417 ft/min = 14 kts

A higher load/weight would only result in a higher rate of descent and probably only a few more sacrificial stitches on the main line.

The questions as to whether the Sling seats are designed to protect your body at that sink rate should probably be asked to TAF. I suspect the thickness of the foam padding as well as the space below the seat pan to absorb the crushing blow may have already been considered but I'm only guessing.
