Alodine and priming

Hi all,
I am just starting the tail kit for a Sling 2. Regarding corrosion protection, I am planning to use this process.
Wash parts with Bonderite C-IC aero.
Rinse with plain water.
Soak in Bonderite Alodine 1201.
Rinse in plain water.
Prime with SEM self etching gray primer.
Assemble and rivet parts.

Does this seem like a worthwhile process and not overkill?

Thanks for your thoughts

- Don

Mike Blyth himself has said that it's overkill to alodine and prime. Personally, I'm doing neither as I don't live in a coastal climate.

I will be using corrosion protection for dissimilar metals, like the stainless steel rivets, though.

I shot acid etch primer on everything, because I just wanted to play it safe on the interior parts, and apply a nice primer coat for the exterior. For the few parts that I've alodined, they don't need to be painted, as the alodine solution forms a protective coating on the parts.

I just got my jar of Duralac, so I'm testing using it between mating surfaces on the rudder. While it's primarily for dissimilar metals there was a recommendation to use corrosion protection on joints so I figured I'll give it a try. It's a bit messy, you get it on the clecos, but it seems to wipe off pretty easily.

Not that you would ever sell your plane but evidence of corrosion prevention treatment is good.
