Upholstery
I checked with Sling, and the lead time for the upholstery kit is 8-9 months. Does anyone know of an upholsterer that could do a Sling 2? The seats won't really be a problem because I can take them to an upholsterer, but the interior panels aren't as easy. Also, I don't see any manual for installing...

Re: Alodine and priming
I shot acid etch primer on everything, because I just wanted to play it safe on the interior parts, and apply a nice primer coat for the exterior. For the few parts that I've alodined, they don't need to be painted, as the alodine solution forms a protective coating on the parts.

Fuselage Dolly/Cart
My Sling 2 fuselage is ready to be moved off of the table and to a fuselage dolly. Does anyone have any photos for a dolly? The table was perfect for building everything else, but now that the fuselage is closed in, it's pretty tall sitting on the table. I've seen a few photos on the VAF site, but t...

Re: Interior overhead lighting
I'm using two of the small Oplites that I got through Aircraft Spruce. They're small and bright, so they should get the job done. Midwest will put the dimmer on the instrument panel for you.

Re: Sling HW Radio Silence ?
At the Sling Ding, Mike and James didn't go into details of what had to be changed, but I think I remember them saying that there were several things changed on the cabin composite/steel tube assembly. It is currently 8 High Wing kits shipped per month, and they were looking to increase that by the ...

Re: Static Lines
I was speaking to one of the Sling people at Oshkosh, and the TSi demonstrator has the port right behind the NACA duct. He mentioned that they were going to move it to the rear of the aircraft, since the forward position does not read as well as the aft position. I guess I'll be mounting mine at the...

Re: Paint Systems and Surface Preparation over Alodine
I would think a quick scuff, followed by a thorough degreasing, tacking, etc. would be sufficient before priming. The most important thing is to make sure that the primer will work with an alodined surface. Play it safe and check with the manufacturer to make sure that the primer will work, and save...

Re: Airventure 2024
Brian, Your DAR experience just reinforces what my Technical Adviser always says to me: 'You're not building an airplane, you're building documentation for an airplane'. He's told me plenty of instances where people made it to the final phases, but the hangups were in the documentation, not the airc...

Re: Midwest Panel Builders Install Visit
I'll second the quality and assistance proved by Midwest as fantastic. I had installed their rear fuselage harness, and noticed that the GMU 11 wires were too far from the GMU 11 location. After sending them some pictures, Steve made me a new harness that I installed last evening, and it fit perfect...
