Re: Considering Dropping Parachute Option
Yes, I’m going with the external alternator for the reasons you mentioned. I’m not sure if the sample aircraft I used, N678CB and N135WT, have have it or not. Even with the alternator, the ability to add some wt as far forward as possible would be a handy option. It would only be necessary to counte...

Re: Pitot Tubes - 1 vs 2
You could run pitot tube #2 exclusively to the G5 (or similar). That way you have a backup and independent attitude and airspeed. Loosing you airspeed indicator in IMC is a big time emergency. You want to believe what you’re seeing and your reaction is to push over and add power. Now imagine that ha...

Considering Dropping Parachute Option
Ive been running wt/cg numbers with realistic loading scenarios for my planned mission. 4 average wt people with a reasonable amount of bags. As you all know, keeping the landing cg from going out the back of the envelope is the challenge. Unless I'm doing something wrong with the numbers, the abili...

The plan for the past several years has been to build a TSi low wing from a quick build kit. I recently decided to go with a build assist program at Midwest Skysports. The decision was based primarily on time constraints. The current plan is to spend one week every month in Michigan until I can fly ...

Forward Ballast
Has anyone come up with a practical way to add forward ballast? The ability to add and remove some forward weight depending on the loading situation would be very nice. It would be a shame to have to land not for fuel or bathroom reasons but because you up against the aft cg limit. Or tankering extr...

Priming of spars and ribs
I noticed some builders priming spars/ribs while the Sling facilities in Joburg and Torrence do not. I’ve also noticed older Cessnas at our local airport being worked on where the interior aluminum looks shiny and new after 50+ years of sitting out in the weather. Is it worth the extra effort to pri...
