Re: Hybrid Build Assist / Home Build???

Thanks for taking the time to provide an informative response. 3 years ago, when I placed my order, Midwest Skysports was advertising “the total build time, with kits in-house, is about six months” (a quote from their YouTube video) so I was expecting something along that timeframe. This was the big...

Re: Hybrid Build Assist / Home Build???

I do want someone looking over my shoulder and would prefer it’s someone familiar with the type. There is a value to experience. If I was going to the build assist site regularly (as I though was going to be the plan) I’m sure that going through the build assist would be faster. They do a portion of...

Hybrid Build Assist / Home Build???

Hello, I finally just started my Sling HW build (more than 3 years after placing my initial deposit). I completed my first week at Midwest Skysports. While I am generally pleased with their build assist process, the timeline for return visits is unknown. I currently have plenty of time to work on th...

I just got a reply from them estimating 11 months before ready to fly.

Re: Tools to build

Thanks for the follow up. I definitely like the experience of being there. I just don’t want it to be a month between visits. And I REALLY want to be flying next summer. I’ve already waited over 3 years since my initial deposit. When the kit arrived this summer I was optimistic that I’d be flying su...

Re: Tools to build

Thanks for the reply. How was your experience at Midwest? How long did it take? I completed my first week which went well. They are super organized and I appreciate their oversight. However, they can’t seem to provide any sort of timeline beyond “it depends”. I can’t even schedule my next trip back.

Re: Tools to build

I’ll be starting my HW in a couple of weeks at Midwest Skysports. I realize they have tools, but I was wondering if there are any tools of my own that I should bring. For example, should I buy my own rivet gun in case another builder is using the shop’s gun? Maybe this is not necessary, but I want t...

StarLink

I was looking into getting a StarLink Mini. In the HW there doesn’t appear to be a great place to put it. So I was wondering if it could be recessed into the dash. There are a lot of mounts for the StarLink and they have a depth of about 1.5 inches. I don’t have my kit yet so I can’t check for mysel...

Also, it’s been a couple of years since you posted. Have you started your build?

Re: 24 volt?

It seems short sighted to no support 24v.

For the few items that need 12v it isn’t a big deal to convert 24 down to 12v.

That advantages of 24v seem to outweigh the disadvantages.
