Re: Comprehensive look at MOGAS vs 100LL for Rotax iS engines
Yeah I guess you're right, it's just weird that they note all the various local Mogas standards, like "Ukraine" for 916, but not local avgas variants. Maybe Ukraine is a large market for 916-driven UAVs right now so they wanted to get that in, but I'd think they'd be familiar with the avga...

Re: Comprehensive look at MOGAS vs 100LL for Rotax iS engines
There's a typo in your link, it's missing the colon after https. Looking at the latest SI for fuel I see it saying "Min RON 98" for the 916 (the other engines have min RON 95 as you state in your post.) I was interested in whether avgas ASTM D910 91/96UL as available in Europe is acceptabl...

Re: Dimpling
Supposedly, even dimple dies of the same diameter and angle are not interchangeable, because depending on the material they are intended for, the shape may be slightly different to allow for the "spring back" of the material to make it come out flat when the die is removed. I have no idea ...

Re: HW Elec/Fuel Question/Anomoly
The HW has a 6 litre header tank on the back if the firewall which supplies the main fuel pumps. The two feed pumps are located between the fuel selector and the header tank and their purpose is to keep the header tank full. Without a feed pump running, no fuel will be pumped into the header tank a...

Re: HW Elec/Fuel Question/Anomoly
I'm not familiar with the HW, what is the "feed pump"? Is this another pump that's different from the Rotax fuel pumps on the firewall? Because those are powered by the engine directly.

Re: Vertical Stabilizer Rear Spar Rivnuts
There's been a fair amount of discussion of this either here or in the sling builders facebook group. The conclusion, as I recall, was that the intent is that by sandwiching them between the parts any pullout force is transferred through the rivnut face onto the spar. If the hole went through everyt...

Re: Overlapping skins AV-30
No, but I've tried using Duralac for this purpose on the tail, I think it's a similar product. I've also been dipping rivets in it. Unlike corrosion X, which is an oil-like substance, it cures to a slightly flexible layer, so you have to apply it and then promptly assemble. It gets pretty messy, esp...

Re: Wing Skin Rivet Holes
I had the same issue on my rudder, most of the dimpled holes so far have not needed any further drilling so of course eventually I forgot to check and ended up wondering why the rivets wouldn't go in on some holes. On the VS skin I did notice that if I didn't debur the holes before dimpling, the riv...

Re: Sling TSi - Northeast Iowa
It sounds like you have plenty of space but one thing to consider is that the fuselage can't easily be put away once you've started it. I'm going to build the wings first and then hang them from my ceiling. Once the fuselage comes together there will not be room for the wings where I'm building.

Re: Estimated Average Build Times and Order
I'm only done with the empennage and I can't tell you how long it took in hours but it took muuuch longer in calendar time than I expected. Not because it's a lot of work, but because of all the questions, missing tools, do-overs, and then just life getting in the way. If you know exactly what to do...
