Re: Tools to build
It's pretty simple math. They put out about one plane every six weeks. So count how many planes are ahead of you, multiply by six, and that's probably the most accurate time estimate you're gonna get. If you are having the onsite painter do work for you, I recommend establishing a relationship with ...

Re: Tools to build
I'm not the best person to talk about timeline - my build started elsewhere and then got finished at MSS.
Yes scheduling is not their strong suit - you'll definitely need to be proactive with your communication.
But they will do what they say they will and have the expertise you need/want.

Re: Tools to build
I’ll be starting my HW in a couple of weeks at Midwest Skysports. I realize they have tools, but I was wondering if there are any tools of my own that I should bring. For example, should I buy my own rivet gun in case another builder is using the shop’s gun? Maybe this is not necessary, but I want ...

Re: Vortex Generators?
I heard JP talk about them once and he said they were so effective in increasing the stall angle of attack that when the plane finally did stall it had some nasty wing-drop characteristics. What he did not discuss was the technical details such as what brand of VGs they were, what location along the...

Re: Sling TSi - Northeast Iowa
Hi Zach! I'm finishing my TSi rn at Midwest Sky Sports in MI. I have a (fifth generation!) farm in Western IL (Altona IL) and will hopefully be flying through NE Iowa this summer. Will definitely be spending time in KGBG, KDVN, and KCID. Details still TBD but happy to meet up if you're interested. G...

Hi Dave!
I'm a TSi builder in the Seattle area - currently finishing up my build at Midwest Sky Sports.
Are you planning on coming to the NW Aviation Expo in Puyallip on Feb 22-23 ? Planning on going and happy to say hi.

Re: Large crack in Main Landing Gear
The maintenance manual section 4.4.1.6 ( https://slingaircraft.com/download/1068/sling-4-tsi/11140/sling-4-tsi-maintenance-manual-rev-1-3.pdf ) details the procedure for removing & reinstalling the landing gear. Unsolicited advice - you should get in the habit of always having the relevant maint...

Re: Parachute Options for the TSi – Need Some Input!
I would add that there's good evidence that without training pilots are unlikely to use the chute, and there's no real good training for this use case (yes I know you & I are smarter than the average pilot...). Further knowing that the system has been "unit tested" but not "integr...

Re: New Sling TSi Builder (Sort Of)
A suggestion on the hangar is to put an alert on Craigslist for hangars for sale. Depending up on the hangar situation at the airports in reasonable distance there may be some port-a-ports or smaller more "affordable" hangars that pop up for sale there. I've been on the county wait list f...
