Re: Future Sling TSi, SE Florida
Welcome - I'm going about the build the slow way, but not too far from you. I plan to have the wings closed up by the end of the year, and the rest of the kit will be delivered Q1 2022 (hopefully).

Re: Reducing drag
The RAMI AV-12 has a drag force of .92 lbs @ 250 mph. I don't know what the drag coefficient is (and too lazy to do the math), but since 160 mph is roughly 2/3 of 250 mph, the drag force for the max speed of a TSi is 0.4 lbs, so, minimal.

Re: 915iS Installation Questions
Per the G3X installation manual, the data available is: 24.2.2.3 Rotax 912iS/915iS The G3X system is capable of monitoring the following engine parameters from the Rotax 912iS/915iS FADEC digital interface, when connected to the dedicated FADEC CAN interface on a GEA 24: • RPM • Manifold pressure • ...

Re: Wing rivet question
I would apply them from the rib into the bracket. Looking at the arrows indicating direction (there are 2, which is confusing), the rear of the rib gets them installed from the rib to brackets 2 & 3, and the front of the rib gets them installed through piece 8 and into parts 5 & 6. Also, not...

Re: Interior skins
Would this cause any structural issues ? It likely would cause issues. One of the reasons that the skins exist at all is to provide strength in addition to the outer skins. While you likely could remove some materials from certain places, you'd need to be careful where you're removing it from, and ...

Re: New guy
I'm doing a slow-build myself, TSi with an IFR panel, no parachute. My spreadsheet says it's going to be $188,000 assuming $15,000 in paint, which may be a little low. I'm planning on doing everything else myself, so that's basically all parts.

Re: Dynon and/or Advanced Panel
I believe that Matthew Harris is planning on putting a Dynon system into his TSi.

Re: VHF radios
I think a second GNC 255 would be overkill, but there are several other lower-priced options that don't have a second NAV radio: GNC 255: $4,695 (plus second NAV, which may be overkill) GTR 225: $2,195 (if you need a certified comm radio) GTR 200: $1,199 (if your Sling is experimental) GTR 20: $995 ...

Re: Torque Wrench
I'd recommend the Tekton one linked above. It's accurate, unlike the Harbour Freight one. The HF one I have is about 10% off from actual, and I have a feeling they're not actually calibrated at the factory...

Re: Sling in Burlington, ON
Welcome! I was comparing the RV-10 and TSi, but made the decision to build a Sling base on a few different factors: Pulled vs Bucked rivets - not a deal breaker, and on an RV, you can (mostly) do it without a helper, but I can still pull 10x faster than I can buck, and they're perfect every time. I ...
