Elevator

Working on the elevator spar assembly and got to where you add the center channel. There are two long center plates that go in between the center channel and the spar (step 6 in the manual). I got one of the two in and figured I would stop and check with the forum before moving on. It was easy to ge...

Re: Tools to build

What have others used for their edge protection products (ex lighteninghole on HS for trim servo)? From blog pictures it looks like the white nylon product. Where did you source it from? Is this the MS21266 product? On Aircraft Spruce they seem to highlight the gator grommet edging (M22529/2 & S...

Re: Dimpling

I have had to order a smaller hand squeezer also for dimpling. I have the DRDT-2, but have found that some of the small ribs on the HS you can't get positioned for clearance correctly on the DRDT-2.

Re: Sling TSi Builder In Dallas-Fort Worth Area

I sent you a private message on this platform, send me a note back and we can exchange contact info as a fellow Texan. I am just getting started, shop is set up, got dies last Friday, should have the HS done next week. Phillip has been a great help to me as well.

Re: Sling TSi Builder In Dallas-Fort Worth Area

The dimple dies are included in the empennage kit normally, they are not a separate purchase or order. They just happened to be missing from my kit so they shipped them on over. It was a good introduction for me on how to use their online parts ordering system, I have them now and am working away.

Countersinking

Before doing some of the initial countersinking with the micro-stop tool, I have been practicing on some test material (https://www.amazon.com/RMP-Aluminum-Sheet-0-040-Thickness/dp/B00HRHB7SS/) to get the depth right for the #30 120 degree cutter. For consistency, have others used a drill press wher...

Re: Share your Progress Fridays [2019/12/13]

Build activity: 1) Developed a game plan for priming parts at the nearby airplane paint shop 2) Researched deburring further 3) More tools arriving daily, ordered a few more as understanding needs continues 4) Test fit horizontal stabilizer parts – very easy, excellent alignment, good directions man...

Deburring

About to start on the empennage horizontal stabilizer for Sling TSi, and curious what others have done for deburring? While inspecting a few of the parts the long edges don't seem to have burr's, with perhaps a few in the rounded corners of ribs, etc. What level and/or process of deburring have othe...

Re: Show your workshop

Now is a good time to share before the workspace gets too cluttered. One of the considerations about building at home vs build assist was having a year around workshop given the Texas heat. Also considered a hangar space at airport about 15 min away. For several reasons, my wife and I decided to bui...

Re: Tools to build

Thank you for this list of tools, this is exactly what I was looking for! I had pieced together some of them from your blog, but this one list is very helpful. In my early build items collection I did come across one sourcing item that got me thinking. For the Loctite products, when searching on Ama...
