Re: Known building "Gotchas" for the Sling TSi
Ah right, so yes, those rivets that are close in the movement zone with the wings have sometimes caused issues for some people touching the wing skin, so I guess they not suggest to countersink those to avoid it.

Re: Known building "Gotchas" for the Sling TSi
Question on the flaps and ailerons - Evan’s “How to” videos show using countersunk rivets for the back of the flaps and the current build manual also shows countersunk rivets for the ailerons. Are they actually supposed to be countersunk per directions, or not countersunk per the notes in this thre...

Re: 912iS Engine Pre-Heat / Cold Start
In the club I'm flying with we put a moving blanket over the cowl of each plane and have a portable space heater with a muffle that we put into the cowling to pre-heat planes.
That keeps them pretty happy to start in the colder months up here in Washington State.

Re: TSi Quick Build Question:
The Sling planes are using 6061-T6, which is already fairly resistant to corrosion (compared to say 2024 which is used in Vans RVs, which is why priming is a much higher concern there). As for the Alodining, I think the factory alodines ready-to-fly machines, but not by default kits, but you can pro...

Re: 1st Production Sling High Wing build at the Factory
True, I suppose the "just fly it across" is a lot easier said than done. On a small sidenote about the radio though, assuming you are putting in the "standard" Garmin stack that most of us are putting in, it can operate on 8.33khz, it's just a setting to switch between 25khz and ...

That is awesome
I look forward to seeing you fly the finished bird.
You could always decide to fly it across Greenland to the US

Re: Countersinking
Have you guys had problems with the holes turning oblong while countersinking? I am using high speed and a micro stop but the pilot holes are getting ovaled. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. You need to make sure you have the stop calibrated correctly with the micro-stop, then if you are correctly st...

Re: Fuel and Brake Lines
The benefit of using aluminum lines or steel braided lines from what I've seen is that you'll not have to replace them as soon as traditional rubber lines.
I think Craig Maiman went with steel braided ones and did a write up on his build log on his Sling 4 with some more details.

Re: Andy in lower Alabama
Welcome to the group.
I have a list of the tools and supplies I'm using in my build on my build log online - https://slingtsi.rueker.com/resources/tools/
I'm only using the Milwaukee riveter, so I don't need to worry about compressor noise.
