Re: Sling TSI High Wing

Personally I hope that the new plane will have a different aircraft type designation like "Sling H1" as I presume it's performance characteristics won't be quite the same to the Sling TSi and it will cause confusion. Since the Sling TSi is gaining popularity quite quickly and (I'm hoping) ...

Re: Known building "Gotchas"

Great additions, which reminded me of another one: The AN bolts for Ailerons & Flaps are in the Finishing kit I've added all the tips to the top post and organized them by main structure (Empennage, Wings, etc.) and added a suffix for who added the tip in case future builders need further clarif...

Re: Share your Progress Sundays [2019/12/22]

I finished the wiring for the Pitot Tube yesterday. This brings me one step closer to finishing the journey of installing the Pitot tube, since this required some retrofitting, as the factory forgot to run the wires for the heated pitot tube, as well as me having to cut the hole for the inspection p...

Share your Progress Sundays [2019/12/22]

As I forgot to post this last Friday and Sunday is the true end of the week anyway for most calendars, here it goes to continue and try to make it a weekly tradition. Hey all, I figured it would be nice to have a regular weekly check-in of peoples progress and do a regular "Share your Progress&...

Re: Prime?

It's an endless discussion, so if you ask 100 builders, you will likely get 101 opinions. The high level summary though is, that the Aluminum used in the Sling is 6061-T6, which is already pretty corrosion resistant and so you can likely get away with not priming and will be fine for many years to c...

Re: Improved/updated KAI?

On this topic... As builders discover errors or omissions in the KAI (or.... " I shouldda done it this way ...") could there be a model specific topic page that would match up with the KAI chapters? These pioneering builders have so far been a huge wealth of information already and it wou...

Known building "Gotchas" for the Sling TSi

There are some questions that keep coming up from new builders and I regularly get asked as one of the earlier builders. If you're looking for recommendations about tools, we have a thread about many things tools . I'm going to start this thread as a collection of some of the known things that often...

Re: Countersinking

For consistency, have others used a drill press where possible rather than a hand drill with the micro-stop tool? Also is there a particular target RPM that yields the most consistent countersunk holes from your experience? I don't have a drill press, so I just do all of them with my hand drill and...

Re: Mogas Locations

One more thing to add about using 100LL when Mogas isn’t available is to consider using a Fuel additive like Decalin to reduce the impact of the Lead since the Rotax engine really prefers running on Mogas. Some more discussion about Decalin on the Rotax-Owners forum - https://www.rotax-owner.com/en/...
