Re: Composite/Fiberglass End Pieces
I finally figured out in your previous post that your tip came (at least partially) reinforced from the factory (the black part) Mine did not, and I assumed that you had put the black reinforcement on yourself. I guess I now have the further conundrum of first doing a whole reinforcement layer. I ep...

Re: Composite/Fiberglass End Pieces
Also, is there some recommended sealant that one should use to prevent water incursion at the rudder tip?

Re: Composite/Fiberglass End Pieces
The tail is flush with the skin. To accommodate any extra distance from tail to front, would make the front of the tip ride up high enough as to make the holes too close to the edge of the fiberglass. Also, the rudder fiberglass tip comes with the back end canted outward, whereas the actual rudder s...

Composite/Fiberglass End Pieces
I am working on the rudder assembly and am concerned about riveting the composite rudder tip (part of it is countersunk) There is not a lot of material to begin with, and once it has been countersunk, it seems really thin. Are folks doing anything such as maybe reinforcing the back with rivet washers?

Re: Known building "Gotchas" for the Sling TSi
On the rudder tip, the directions on page E.4.4. state that you should countersink the first 9 (nine) holes on the composite rudder tip piece. To match the 7 (seven) rudder tip skin holes that are dimpled, you should only countersink the corresponding 7 (seven) holes in the composite rudder tip piece.

Pre-treatment of mating surfaces before assembly
When assembling skin pieces that might overlap, does one put some sort of sealant on the joining surfaces before riveting?
Alodining
I am getting ready to begin with my TSi that is a Quickbuild from the factory. The fuselage and the wings came alodined already. The other parts of the winges - ailerons, flap - and the empennage are not alodined. For consistency and for long-term corrosion resistance I am thinking I want to alodine...
