Sling Tsi is Experimental and Insurance cost is already high. The statistics of unfortunate incidence will likely increase regretfully, if de-icing enhancement proliferates among the Sling owners... My 2%. ;)

I have worked with the Kelly Aerospace Thermawing system for years but it's a power hog (7,500 watts) and requires a 130 amp, 70 volt alternator to run it. You can feel the 310 hp engine loose RPMs when it operates. Unfortunately, the 915is won't cut it. Otherwise, Thermawing would be nice because it's electric. https://www.goodrichaviation.com/thermawing

If the prop was de-iced, probably TKS would be the only potential airframe solution.
I realize that this is an old thread, but MT props are being used on Slings and it looks MT offers I de-icing capabilities. From their website: “All hydraulic MT-Propellers are optionally available with the patented MT feathering and /or reverse system and can be equipped with electric or alcohol de-ice boots.”

And thinking further on this, you could couple that with a 3600 watt / 100 lbs Ecoflow Delta Pro LFP battery in the back seat, you’d have about 30 minutes of de-icing on the Thermo-Wing. Enough to get down through a low overcast winter day.

…or add 2 batteries for an hour’s endurance.
