Known building "Gotchas" for the Sling 2

Post by SlingPilots »

There are some questions that keep coming up from new builders.

As a sibling to the thread we already started for the TSi, I'm adding this thread as a collection of some of the known things that often come up during the build, or things that are not directly called out in the plans, but the builder should consider.

If you have something to add, please reply and I will try to add it to the summary up here with a link to your reference.

Empennage
  • Safety the Elevator Trim Tab
The plans don't mention it, but you should safety the Elevator Trim tab - this can easily be done by drilling a small hole into each end and installing some Safety wire. - SlingPilots

In my experience the empennage kai is pretty good.
The wing kit kai is fair. I had to remove a skin after it had been riveted because the drawings left out one of the ribs.
The fuselage kai gets an absolute F grade. I have had to drill out dozens of rivets because it was just plain wrong or told me to rivet but left out some of the parts that needed to be held by those rivets.
I sure hope the rest of the manuals are better.
